cd duplication, cd replication, cd manufacturing

CD manufacturing is our Specialty

At Precision Media Group we've been helping indie artists and record labels with cd duplication and replication for over two decades (remember cassettes). In those days we were known simply as Precision Sound. But we've grown over the years to include all forms of content duplication:

replication

We offer CD replication (molded discs) for quantities as low as 250, and have run projects as high as 50,000 units. the process is identical regardless of the size of the order. A glass master is made from your master CDR and CD's are then custom manufactured with your content pressed right into the plastic. The content cannot be written over, and the surface is more resistant to scratching than a duplicated (burned) disc.

Turn times for replicated discs are usually 10-12 working days (plus shipping) after your artwork, and replication rights paperwork has been approved. Contact us to learn more.

short runs

cd duplication, dvd duplication

A CDR (recordable) is manufactured with a die layer so that you can ’burn’ information (music or data onto the disc. If you need just a few discs for demo purposes, or if your content will be changing often, short runs are the way to go. We offer two (2 / deux) in-house options for CDR labelling: thermal print or inkjet.

Thermal printed discs are printed black ink on either a silver or white disc, and work best when only text or simple line art is required. Inkjet labels are printed in full colour right onto the disc surface. Our full colour inkjet labelling process takes full advantage of brightly coloured images to bring an impactful look to your project.

We can usually complete your short run in 3 to 5 working days. If you have a deadline, let us know, and we’ll do our best to ensure you can get on with your other business.

You’ll need to have licensing in place if your using other peoples music or content. click here to learn more about replication rights.

Short run Packaging
Even if you need just a few demo copies of your music, you'll want to make a great first impression. Complete packaging might not be a luxury these days but a necessity. Ask your sales rep about short run printing. We offer solutions that help you stay on budget and prepare for larger orders in the future.

audio

Audio CD capacity:120mm compact disc | 76 min–00 sec | red book standard
80mm compact disc | 20 min – 00 sec | red book standard
business card cd | 4 minutes – 38 sec | red book standard

*the RED BOOK (which contains the standards for CD-audio manufacturing, both discs and players) specifies that the maximum program length should be 76 minutes of music. However, as 80 minute CDr's have become the norm in recent years, they have pushed the pre-recorded discs to same limit. In order to warranty 100% compatibility between a pressed disc and a music CD player, we recommend that the RED BOOK standard of 76 minutes be maintained. We cannot be held responsible for program lengths in excess of 76 minutes, however with a signer waiver we will press 80 minute discs. Contact us to learn more.

Digital "Versatile" Disc - more than just video
Delivery of video is now easier than ever with DVD technology. At PMG we offer both pressed DVD's and burned DVDR's. Turn times vary depending on the production method you choose. We can mold (press) DVD's in quantities as low as 250, and have managed projects in excess of 50,000 units. The process is identical regardless of the size of the order. A glass master is made from your master DVDr and then your content is pressed right into the liquid polycarbonate plastic. The content cannot be written over, and the surface is more resistant to scratching than a duplicated (burned) disc.

DVD replication is identical to CD, however the process of creating a master disc is quite different. "Authoring" involves arranging the content on your DVD into chapters or sections so the user can select content from an on-screen menu using their mouse or tv remote. You're not limited to video only. Audio, PDF, powerpoint presentations can all be incorporated onto a DVDrom, even though some of these formats cannot be accessed on a standard DVD player.

Each layer of data on a DVD disc allows up to approximately 133 minutes of full motion MPEG-2 video. This amount of playing time allows for 95% of all movies to be contained on one disc side. DVD supports variable bit data rates, which efficiently increase digital video playback quality. DVD players and drives are capable of seamless switching between the two layers of information on each disc side.

DVD capacity:
DVD-5 | 1 layer on 1 side | 4.7 Gb | DVD book A
DVD-9 | 2 layers on 1 side | 4.27 Gb per layer | DVD book B
DVD-10 | 1 layer on 2 sides | 4/7 Gb per side | DVD book B
